“It feels like the world isn’t built for how my brain works.”
“I was taught to hide certain behaviors around other people.”
“It’s hard to know what I’m feeling until my emotions suddenly get overwhelming.”
“I’m tired of people trying to “fix” me.”
Whether you already identify as neurodivergent or are wondering if you might fit into that category, our neurodiversity-affirming therapists are here to support you. We understand that neurodivergence comes with unique challenges—and unique gifts and skills too. Our therapists will not try to “cure” your neurodivergence, and instead, they can support you in achieving the unique goals you have for neurodiversity-affirming therapy.
Here at Momentum Counseling and Consulting, we use Neurodivergence as an umbrella term that describes anyone whose brain processes, learns, perceives, behaves, or communicates differently than what is societally/culturally considered “typical.” This could include Autism, ADHD, learning or developmental disabilities, Tourette’s Syndrome, synesthesia, chronic mental health conditions (such as bipolar disorder and personality disorders), and/or those who experienced significant developmental trauma.
We can help with the following:
Accepting and/or valuing your neurotype
Communicating with others about your neurotype
Developing healthy boundaries in school, work, relationships, and beyond
Developing safe, manageable, and non-masking-related coping strategies for living in a neurotypical society
Identifying and addressing barriers in your environment
Managing and recovering from burnout
Understanding your unique neurotype
“Unmasking” your neurotype
