“I struggle with public speaking.”

“I freeze in competition despite being an athlete.”

“I forget everything I’ve learned when it is time to take a test.”

“Sex is unenjoyable because I feel nervous.”

Performance anxiety is fear associated with a specific task. It can cause you to feel “frozen” or forget your words or actions. Physical, emotional, and mental reactions can all be symptoms of this issue. Some people experience performance anxiety for specific tasks, or it can stem from other areas such as social anxiety. Whatever the cause of the performance anxiety, we can help you learn tools and strategies for addressing this issue.

Cognitive therapies such as CBT have been scientifically shown to reduce fear and anxiety around performance tasks. Anxiety does not have to stand in your way. It is possible to feel comfortable when performing.

We can help if your anxiety interferes with:

  • Athletic performance

  • Job interviews

  • Meeting new people

  • Public speaking

  • Sexual interaction

  • Stage fright

  • Test-taking
