“I don’t quite belong anywhere.”
“I feel the need to constantly have change.”
“I feel like other therapists don’t fully understand my experience.”
Third Culture Kids are individuals who spend at least a part of the developmental year growing up outside their passport country; this may be due to a parent’s military assignment, diplomatic mission, church mission, business position, NGO work, immigration, refugee status or numerous other reasons.
TCKs often grow up with unique opportunities for travel and experiences. To others, their lives may sound “exotic” or “exciting.” TCK life is rich, AND it presents some unique challenges. There is so much hope! TCKs also develop wonderful resiliency and coping skills. Here at Momentum, we have clinicians who have been TCKs, are parents of TCKs, and have speciality training in working with individuals who define themselves as TCKs or ATCKs.
Together we can work to overcome:
Adjustment issues
Anxiety
Culture Shock
Depression
Grief Work
Identity
Panic attacks
Post-traumatic stress disorder
