“It feels like I keep recycling old patterns, year after year.”

“Issues from my past are interfering with my present life.”

“My mind feels like it is constantly racing and I can’t seem to relax.”

“I often find myself feeling worried, doubtful of myself, and avoiding things.”

“It is hard for me to feel like I am ever doing enough.”

I’m so glad you are here.

I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal. To choose yourself, by seeking out support, is the first step in living a content and fulfilling life. It would be an honor to have the opportunity to get to know you, learn of your unique story, and work together to find relief from the pain you have been experiencing in your daily life.

With Eye Movement and Desensitization (EMDR) therapy we can reduce and eliminate disturbing symptoms in a shorter period of time, such as feeling tense, recurring self-defeating patterns of behavior that result in conflicts, preoccupation with worries, and sleep disturbances. In addition, you can get relief from unconscious patterns of surviving, such as attachment to substances, people-pleasing, or disordered eating.

My Therapeutic Approach

I believe in a holistic and collaborative approach to counseling in which traditional therapeutic intervention can be most effective when coupled with appropriate self-care and meaningful connection to others. I aim to cultivate a warm, accepting, and safe environment to facilitate clients’ inner work and empower them to navigate their life with confidence, peace, and freedom.

In our work together, I will often invite clients to join me in being “curious” about their strengths, internal and external resources, and how they have navigated the world thus far in their life. Oftentimes, the ways we have learned to cope with challenges and “show up” in our lives were originally developed both early on and out of necessity. I encourage clients to honor the ways that these methods have been helpful, whilst also guiding clients in overcoming how these methods might have also created barriers to living their lives to the fullest potential.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an internationally recognized and evidence-based approach that I utilize often to treat a variety of clinical problems, from complex trauma and recent traumatic events to concerns with self-esteem and relationship stress. I may additionally pull from other therapeutic lenses such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) to target unhelpful, critical self-talk, promote mindfulness, establish plans for resolve, and, ultimately, offer clients a sense of relief and empowerment.

I feel a sense of immense gratitude to be a part of a profession that allows me to love and empower others through their obstacles and in their healing journeys, and I would be honored to walk alongside you in yours.

About me:

My name is Maddi, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) in Colorado, Associate Professional Counselor (APC) in Georgia, and Board-Certified Counselor (NCC). “Home”, for me, is Doha, Qatar, where I lived from ages 6 to 18 with my family prior to returning to the US to attend university in South Carolina. In between undergraduate and graduate school, I had the pleasure of returning to my childhood home in Doha to live and work. I once again returned to the US, where I met my husband who is active-duty in the military, shortly thereafter. In my leisure time, I enjoy spending time with my family, drinking coffee, socializing with friends, going on adventures with our three pets (two of whom are Qatar natives!), cooking new vegetarian recipes, learning new concepts through reading and professional training, and binge watching shows.
